If I Were King is the debut single by Manchester-based solo artist Nicholas James Mallins, due out on March 9th. It’s the first part in a triptych of tracks Mallins will be releasing; the triptych is called “Le Rebutant” and will be available on ltd edition vinyl as a collection in the summer.

The video for If I Were King was filmed over the course of a month in Iceland by director Dan Huiting (Bon Iver, St Vincent). It captures the vast and changing beauty of the landscape and nature of its extraordinary location and provides visuals with both the scale and intimacy to match the song’s electronic heart but very human soul.

With the track starting to be picked up in clubs across Europe, plans are in place for a series of performances in abandoned cultural venues across the continent, starting in Vienna this summer.

With influences ranging from John Hopkins to Nick Drake, Mallins was formerly frontman of cult indie band Mutineers. If I Were King is a rich and promising start to his solo career.
