The story: Belgium rock band releases blinding second album “Much against Everyone’s Advice”, shows playful side by covering Nik Kershaw, puts down guitars, and plays a significant part in the development of mash-ups, in their alter-guise 2manydjs, mixing together the likes of Dolly Parton and Royksopp, Henry Mancini and Basement Jaxx. A few years later, Soulwax release a new album, Any Minute Now. They then remix their own album, which becomes Nite Versions, and begin touring it, while simultaneously performing an improbable number of DJ sets as 2manydjs.

I like to think that even in my most Smithsian, Drakeian, shoegazing days, I still would have been very much on board with this kind of musical kick-assery.
