This isn’t the first track from Nowhere that I’ve written about (see Vapour Trail), so I won’t go on about how amazingly great it still sounds after all these years; assuming that is you like your drumming frenetic, your guitars layered, and your vocals rough and ready and vaguely in key with the odd ahhh-ahhh harmony thrown in to pep things up.

Polar Bear is all of the above, with an ever-present tremolo coursing through from start to finish. Lyrically it’s based at least in part on a JD Salinger short story called Raise High The Roof Beam, Carpenters; I don’t know why it’s called Polar Bear, but then neither does Andy Bell, and he played guitar on it.
