Boy did we love Daisy Victoria’s debut EP Heart Full of Beef when we reviewed it last year. And boy did we love its successor, Nobody Dies. No surprise, then, to learn how excited we were to hear about a third release.

Several days and many listens later, and we’re still on a high; Pain of Dancers contains the perfect balance of power, beauty, intelligence and melody. It’s another top-drawer effort from a rapidly developing artist, and while we try to avoid the old music writer’s shorthand - “reminds me of”… “sounds like” - there are good reasons why names like PJ Harvey and Kate Bush are being dropped in sentences also containing the name Daisy Victoria.

Written by Daisy Victoria together with brother and song-writing partner Sam Lawrence, and recorded at 4AD’s London studio and mixed by Damian Taylor (Björk, Arcade Fire, Robyn) at Golden Ratio in Montreal, Pain of Dancers will be released on 25th September.
