Select Magazine’s second best album of 1993 (pipped to the post by the exceedingly marvelous Giant Steps) was One Dove’s only album. You can blame record label politics for that.

Thanks, record label politics. Way to delay the release of yet another album, and good work on pissing off the band by attempting to replace their choice of producer and collaborator (Andrew Weatherall) with yours (Stephen Hague). Still, you couldn’t quite prevent it being at least a partly brilliant, if a bit uneven, indie dance dub thing, with multiple versions of “White Love” and “Breakdown” appearing throughout. This is the single version of “Breakdown”, which is more or less the same as the Radio Mix that closes the album (and not quite as good as the Cellophane Boat Mix, which also appears on the album).
