Winter songs are not just for Christmas, ably demonstrated here by Mr David Albert Cook, with a song written by Wombling free’s Mike Batt. A Winter’s Tale didn’t peak until it hit #2 in January 1983, behind horrible fake Motown man Phil Collins and his first number one single “You Can’t Hurry Love”. It stayed in the charts for 10 weeks, which sounds good until you compare it with the 11 weeks Keith Harris and Orville were about to hang around for. Perhaps more smoulder and less boulder in the video would have helped.

I was going to hold this gem over until after Christmas, but it got me a mention on 6 music today, so hurrah to that!
