Atlas Bear is a new single from Grawl!x (pronounced Graw-lix), the project of former shoegazer (with the group My Psychoanalyst) James Machin, with performances from members of Haiku Salut. Taking the textures and shifting sands of shoegazing and applying them to an album of slow-burning, atmospheric tracks that evokes the spirit of Julianna Barwick’s looped rhythms and soundscapes, with Grawl!x he has created an album, Good Grief, that will take you on an intriguing voyage through the Grawl!x soundscape. Mostly mysterious and opaque, piano motifs mingling with strings - only towards the end, with the lively stomp of Lonely Fools and Crazy Horses, does it resolve into something more tangible.

Atlas Bear is out today (February 2nd). Good Grief has a romantically timed released date of 14th February. You can order the album in the usual digital formats and heavyweight vinyl from the group’s Bandcamp page:
